Hi Folks,
The GDR team wish you all a wonderful 2018, may it be the best of years 😊
Please find attached the first GDR newsletter of 2018.
The next one will be sent before the RCG9 conference in June.
This new schedule enables us to update you before major conferences and meetings so you are current on GDR activities and can catch Sook or I in person with any questions (although feel free to contact us at any time of course).
Just a reminder for those of you attending PAG, the USRosexec/RosIGI has been combined into one 2 hr meeting, to be held Sunday 10-12 in the Hampton room (note the later start - no longer 8AM). Thanks to the new RosEXEC members (who also serve as the steering committee for GDR) and to those rotating off for their service to the community and GDR, it is much appreciated.
Below is a list of the GDR and associated Mainlab presentations at PAG. We will also be at the AgBioData booth.
As always we are grateful for your support and of course your data - more please!!! 😊 Where you use GDR please remember to cite us in publications and not just by URL (citations are listed on the website). Thanks to the USDA, NSF, US Land Grant Universities and Industry for funding GDR (2003-2019).
Cheers
Dorrie and Sook

Subject: Full time job opportunities at Salve Regina University Dept of Biology
Hi all,
We have a couple of positions currently open in our department for the upcoming year. Please forward to any and all interested parties? (Far and wide even to any med school connections…)
Dorie:- do you think you could pop this on the GDR?
Best
JD
______________________
My name is JD Swanson, I am the current Chairperson of Biology and Biomedical Sciences at Salve Regina University. We currently have several opportunities for both adjunct professors as well as two full time (non tenure track) positions in our department starting this fall.
Our two full-time positions are
1. a Cell Biologist. This is a one year position and they would teach Cell Biology and one other class, they would have the option to do research but it is not required.
2. A Geneticist/Developmental Biologist. This is a one (most likely two) year position while one of our faculty will be on rotation as a program director at NSF. They would teach Genetics and developmental biology plus some other classes within their specialty. They would also be responsible for working with our rotating faculty member to ensure the continuation of their research projects (centered around the effect of external factors on cell growth and division in a variety of species.
For both of these positions, we require the candidate to have their Ph.D. defended or in-hand and would be able to start at the beginning of the 2017/2018 academic year.
These are great positions as they would allow a seasoned post-doc some mentored teaching and undergraduate research experience, or will allow a newly minted Ph.D. to be exposed to the opportunities associated with working at a primarily undergraduate institution.
Please let me know if you have any candidates that you think may benefit from this and please forward this to any and all interested parties
