Hello,
A full time 3-year term Scientific Program Coordinator position for AgBioData Consortium is available.
Scientific Program Coordinator
Phoenix Bioinformatics and The AgBioData Consortium are seeking a Program Coordinator to support the activities of a recently funded three year NSF Research Coordination Network award (https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_I… ). The AgBioData RCN aims to accelerate research in agricultural science by increasing the accessibility and reuse of large- scale biological data. We will do this by creating a network of Genomic, Genetic and Breeding Databases, researchers, scholarly publishers, and funders to advance data capture, findability, access, interoperability, reusability, and sustainability. This is a unique opportunity for an individual seeking to advance into a variety of careers away from the bench such as teaching at primarily undergraduate institutions, biocuration, database project management or scholarly publishing.
The Program Coordinator will support the activities of the RCN and work collaboratively with the Steering Committee to ensure the timely completion of the RCN objectives.
The position reports to the AgBioData Steering Committee and the coordinator will be part of a diverse and skilled professional team at Phoenix Bioinformatics. This position is a full time, remote working position with collaborators across multiple US time zones so hours can be flexible.

Dear All,
After a year where we did not conduct our yearly RosEXEC election we are now ready to resume and hold the 2021 elections. RosEXEC members who were due to rotate out in 2021 and 2022 have graciously agreed to add one more year to their term to make up for the lost year of meetings. We thank domestic members Dario Chavez, Janet Slovin, Ellen Thomson, Margaret Worthington , and international liaisons Felicidad Fernado, Craig Hardiner and Max Cheng for their service on this committee.
We are now looking for people to be nominated to serve on the RosEXEC. If you are nominating someone, please check with them that they are willing to be nominated and understand what is required if they are elected. For current members and their terms, please see the membership page at https://www.rosaceae.org/community/rosexec_2020<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Furldefens…>.
In the attached sheet, you'll see the current members, their terms and the region that they coming from as well as the crop group focus. In the past, we have really tried to make sure that there is even distribution amongst the institution (Industry, University, Government) region (S, E, W, N) and crop group focus. Based on that, it looks like we need more representatives from the South and East and for international Liaisons we need representatives for Europe and New Zealand/Australia.
This is an example of the nomination request to targeted folks (add in personal comments to entice and sway them to apply!):
Hi ______,
I hope that this finds you well! Today, I'm writing to you to nominate you for a three-year-term U.S. membership in RosEXEC - the U.S. Rosaceae Genomics, Genetics, and Breeding Executive Committee (www.rosaceae.org/community/us_rosexec<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Furldefens…>) or a two year term if an international liaison.
The mission of RosEXEC is to:
* Serve as a communication and coordination focal point for the U.S. Rosaceae genomics, genetics, and breeding community.
* Define research priorities based on input from the industry and research community.
* Facilitate scientific interaction and foster dynamic research teams.
* Promote research priorities.
* Coordinate educational efforts from the research community to the industry and the public.
* Serve as an official steering committee for the Genome Database for Rosaceae
An election will take place from March 22 to March 31 . Any U.S. Rosaceae genomics, genetics, and breeding researcher or interested party is allowed to cast a vote. The five domestic candidates and two international liaison candidates with the most votes will join RosEXEC from April 2021 to January 2024 for the domestic members and April 2021 to Jumuary 2023 for international liaisons.
To help inform voters, two items are provided on every candidate:
(1) a brief statement (100-word max) on proposed contributions to the RosEXEC mission
(2) a short CV (1-2 pages are fine)
If you are willing to become a RosEXEC member, could you please send me the above two items for you? These documents will be uploaded to the GDR, with links to them on the voting page.
Thanks for considering officially supporting the RosEXEC mission.

We have grant funds for a postdoc to work on citrus scion breeding. The ideal candidate would have a strong interest in genomics-driven conventional breeding, complemented with an interest in physiological markers for disease tolerance. It is likely that the permanent ARS scion breeding position would become vacant near the end of this postdoc appointment and, if so, the postdoc with experience in this program could be a strong candidate to compete for this position.
The successful candidate will be working with what is likely the most extensive array of citrus scion material ever developed and in an era of abundant funding for related work . The position is at the US Horticultural Research Lab in Ft. Pierce, FL. There are about 25 faculty at this site and
200 employees. It is in a very desirable location, seven miles from excellent beaches, world-class fishing etc. It is immediately adjacent to a University of Florida research center and a few miles from Indian River State College.
Interested scientists should contact ed.stover@usda,gov<mailto:ed.stover@usda,gov> US citizenship will greatly expedite hiring. Position starts at 66K with full federal benefits
