How does the user community value the GDR? Discussions at next week’s ASHS conference

How does the user community value the GDR? If you’re attending the ASHS conference in Orlando next week and are a Rosaceae crop breeder or breeding-allied researcher, your thoughts and wisdom are needed! We’d like to discuss your ideas about user benefits of accessing GDR data and tools (such as advances, outputs, and impacts that would not be possible or would cost more or take more time if the GDR did not exist) and how the GDR could quantify those benefits across the community. We’d also like to discuss user costs to access GDR data and tools (such as user time to train on GDR content and capabilities and to access and use specific data and tools). (From next year, we plan to visit yet-to-be-chosen user programs across the U.S. for in-depth case studies on such benefits and costs.) It would be great if you could participate in one of the 1-hour discussion sessions to be held during the conference, on Thursday Aug 3 at 1:00—2:00 pm and 4:30—5:30 pm in Antigua 4 room of the conference venue. Dear Rosaceae Genomics friends, We have decided to cancel this meeting as nobody has suggested any specific topic they wanted to discuss. The acceptance rate was quite high, though, so we will try to arrange another meeting in a few months. Dear Rosaceae International Genomics community, At the last RosEXEC meeting at PAG30 we decided to re-instate annual RosIGI meetings, which haven’t occurred for a few years. The purpose of RosIGI is to ensure communication among Rosaceae researchers across the world (so not only US) and coordinate international efforts on key initiatives that might be undertaken.
