After a year where we did not conduct our yearly RosEXEC election we are now ready to resume and hold the 2021 elections. RosEXEC members who were due to rotate out in 2021 and 2022 have graciously agreed to add one more year to their term to make up for the lost year of meetings. We thank domestic members Dario Chavez, Janet Slovin, Ellen Thomson, Margaret Worthington , and international liaisons Felicidad Fernado, Craig Hardiner and Max Cheng for their service on this committee.

We are now looking for people to be nominated to serve on the RosEXEC. In the attached sheet, you'll see the current members, their terms and the region that they coming from as well as the crop group focus. In the past, we have really tried to make sure that there is even distribution amongst the institution (Industry, University, Government) region (S, E, W, N) and crop group focus. Based on that, it looks like we need more representatives from the South and East and for international Liaisons we need representatives for Europe and New Zealand/Australia.

The mission of RosEXEC is to:

* Serve as a communication and coordination focal point for the U.S. Rosaceae genomics, genetics, and breeding community.

* Define research priorities based on input from the industry and research community.

* Facilitate scientific interaction and foster dynamic research teams.

* Promote research priorities.

* Coordinate educational efforts from the research community to the industry and the public.

* Serve as an official steering committee for the Genome Database for Rosaceae

An election will take place from March 22 to March 31 . Any U.S. Rosaceae genomics, genetics, and breeding researcher or interested party is allowed to cast a vote. The five domestic candidates and two international liaison candidates with the most votes will join RosEXEC from April 2021 to January 2024 for the domestic members and April 2021 to Jumuary 2023 for international liaisons.

To help inform voters, two items are provided on every candidate:

(1) a brief statement (100-word max) on proposed contributions to the RosEXEC mission

(2) a short CV (1-2 pages are fine)
