Dear Cotton Researchers,
Dr. Thea WIlkins would like to release all of her genome resources through Amplicon Express (for lists the type and cost of services, please visit http://ampliconexpress.com), as they maintain excellent QC and provide a range of services. However, she needs know if there is sufficient interest by the community for Amplicon to provide such services.
The resources are 6 BAC libraries of excellent quality with >125 kb inserts as follows
~8X MboI G. Arboreum AKA8401 library anchored by Andy Paterson
~6X BamHI G. arboreum AKA 8401 library used to generate sequence-based physical map
~6X EcoRI G. arboreum AKA 8401 library used to generate sequence-based physical map
>5X Gossypiodes Kirkii BAC library generated for making sequence-based physical map
>5X G. Kirkii library generated for making a sequence-based physical map
5X G. hirsutum TM1 BAC library
Please let us know if you are interested in using these resources via services provided by Amplicon Express within the next two weeks. If there is not enough interest, these important resources, which are not currently available to the community, will be lost to the community forever.

Dear ICGI members,
Tomorrow (March 20) will be the end of the 30 day period for the ICGI 2013 election. At present, only about 30% (108 of 349) of members have voted, so that it is very unlikely that we will reach 50% by the end of tomorrow.
Per our bylaws, we will therefore extend the election for two weeks, to the end of the day on April 3. Also per our bylaws, balloting will close after April 3, regardless of the % of the membership that has voted.
Please exercise your most important right and responsibility -- vote!

Per our bylaws, nominations for ICGI co-chairs are now open, closing 1 February. We will elect co-chairs of each workgroup (Structural Genomics, Functional Genomics, Comparative and Evolutionary Genomics, Germplasm, Bioinformatics) and the co-chair of ICGI overall, with the current co-chairs ascending to the Chair positions (these will be Richard Percy, Robert Wright, Joshua Udall, Todd Campbell, Peng Chee, and Tianzhen Zhang).
Please send your nominations to me (paterson(a)plantbio.uga.edu), including the email address of the person(s) you wish to nominate and the office(s) that you wish to nominate them for. It would be appreciated if you would check with the prospective nominee first to make sure that s/he is willing to serve, although I will check with them as well.
Pending any unexpected delays, nominations will CLOSE on 1 Feb, the election will open shortly thereafter (I will provide a link to it then), and the election will CLOSE on 1 March unless an extension is appropriate per our bylaws.

Abstracts for consideration as potential talks at the PAG workshop are now overdue … however we can consider submissions received in the next day or two. Get them in NOW, either to me (Paterson(a)plantbio.uga.edu<mailto:Paterson@plantbio.uga.edu>) or to Tianzhen Zhang (cotton(a)njau.edu.cn<mailto:cotton@njau.edu.cn>).
Proposals to host the next (2014) ICGI biannual meeting are also due. The decision about the next venue WILL BE MADE at the next Steering Committee meeting, to be held at PAG in early January. If you wish for additional information about what such a proposal should contain, contact me directly.
