Dear ICGI members,
Below is the list of candidates who have accepted nominations for the various ICGI offices. Candidates, if you wish to post a brief (1 paragraph) statement about your credentials and/or intentions as an officeholder, please email it to Jing Yu by no later than 8 February (jing.yu(a)wsu.edu), to be posted at the election site.
Jing, please open the site for votes at your earliest convenience after 8 February, and advise the membership by email of the url.
Thanks AP
PS: As I was writing this, I realized that one candidate has been nominated for two offices. Since this is contrary to our bylaws, I will contact the candidate to determine which office he prefers to run for.

Dear ICGI members,
Per our bylaws, nominations for ICGI co-chairs are now open, closing 1 February. We will elect co-chairs of each workgroup (Structural Genomics, Functional Genomics, Comparative and Evolutionary Genomics, Germplasm, Bioinformatics) and the co-chair of ICGI overall, with the current co-chairs ascending to the Chair positions (these will be Richard Percy, Robert Wright, Joshua Udall, Todd Campbell, Peng Chee, and Tianzhen Zhang).
Please send your nominations to me (paterson(a)plantbio.uga.edu), including the email address of the person(s) you wish to nominate and the office(s) that you wish to nominate them for. It would be appreciated if you would check with the prospective nominee first to make sure that s/he is willing to serve, although I will check with them as well.
Pending any unexpected delays, nominations will CLOSE on 1 Feb, the election will open shortly thereafter (I will provide a link to it then), and the election will CLOSE on 1 March unless an extension is appropriate per our bylaws.
Thank you in advance.
Andrew Paterson, Chair, ICGI

Dear ICGI members,
Thanks again to the hosts, sponsors and attendees for a productive and stimulating meeting in Raleigh!
Two reminders:
Abstracts for consideration as potential talks at the PAG workshop are now overdue … however we can consider submissions received in the next day or two. Get them in NOW, either to me (Paterson(a)plantbio.uga.edu<mailto:Paterson@plantbio.uga.edu>) or to Tianzhen Zhang (cotton(a)njau.edu.cn<mailto:cotton@njau.edu.cn>).
Proposals to host the next (2014) ICGI biannual meeting are also due. The decision about the next venue WILL BE MADE at the next Steering Committee meeting, to be held at PAG in early January. If you wish for additional information about what such a proposal should contain, contact me directly.
Sincerely,
Andrew Paterson

Dear ICGI members,
This is a SECOND REQUEST for abstracts to be considered as potential talks for the PAG-ICGI workshop in January. Those abstracts received either by myself (paterson(a)plantbio.uga.edu<mailto:paterson@plantbio.uga.edu>) or Tianzhen Zhang (cotton(a)njau.edu.cn<mailto:cotton@njau.edu.cn>) by 15 October will be assured of full consideration. We will promptly advise the speakers, so they can submit their abstracts to PAG ahead of the 1 Nov deadline.
Sincerely,
Andrew Paterson
Chair
Dear ICGI members,
It will soon be time to select the speakers for the PAG ICGI workshop. For those who plan to attend and wish to be considered as a potential speaker, abstracts submitted to Tianzhen Zhang (cotton(a)njau.edu.cn) or myself (paterson(a)plantbio.uga.edu) by 1 October will be assured of full consideration. Please use the format specified by PAG. Speakers will be eligible for a $100 discount on their registration, but there are no other funds provided by PAG.
Thanks,
Andrew Paterson
ICGI Chair
Hi,
A number of labs and teams have been developing cotton SNPs, and there seems now to be ample numbers of SNPs and interest in the cotton community to form a Cotton SNP Consortium, which could drive down development and application costs considerably for individual SNP developers and users.
We do not want to exclude anyone, and the more extensive the participation, the more cost effective and time-effective the Consortium will be.
I am contacting you and other ICGI members via the ICGI ListServe to ask if you MIGHT be interested in participating in a Cotton SNP Consortium? Participants may have public, philanthropic and/or commercial interests in mind; they may be from the US or elsewhere.
To indicate your interest in receiving communications regarding the Consortium, please send to me an email (stelly(a)tamu.edu) , preferably with COTTON SNP CONSORTIUM in the SUBJECT LINE.
If so, additional information will be sent to your email address, i.e., to provide additional information about the Consortium as it develops, and solicit a description of your possible interests. Your positive response will be taken to indicate a desire for information only, and does not entail any sort of commitment.
Participation in the Consortium could be in any or all of several ways:
[1] Buying chips to screen your germplasm, research and breeding materials,
[2] Contributing SNPs to the Public SNP Set,
[3] Contributing SNPs as proprietary SNP content, only, and
[4] Donating funds, to help offset cost.
Thanks,
David
