Call for Nominations for the 2023-2025 ICGI Election--March 31, 2023 Deadline

Friends: On behalf of the ICGI executive committee, I am opening nominations for ICGI officers. We request nominations for the open positions listed below. Those elected will serve as co-chair for 2 years followed by 2 years as chair (total of 4 year commitment). 2023-2025 1) ICGI Overall Co-Chair 2) Breeding and Applied Genomics Co-Chair 3) Comparative Genomics and Bioinformatics Co-Chair 4) Functional Genomics Co-Chair 5) Germplasm and Genetic Stocks Co-Chair 6) Structural Genomics Co-Chair Please send your nominations to icgi.elections(a)gmail.com<mailto:icgi.elections@gmail.com> by March 31, 2023. List the name, title, institution, and email for your nominee(s). Nominee Eligibility according to ICGI By-Laws Any “Professional” member of the ICGI is eligible to serve as an officer. A “Professional” is deemed to be an individual holding an academic or governmental scientific research position. Individuals actively engaged in obtaining an academic degree or employed by a for-profit company are not eligible to serve as ICGI officers. ICGI members can be nominated for only one position per election, but in successive elections can be nominated for positions other than the one they currently hold. While it will be possible to hold Chair and Co-chair positions simultaneously, no single individual can be Chair of ICGI and of a Workgroup or Chair of two different Workgroups simultaneously. Plan to attend the ICGI workshop at 2023 PAG on January 15, 2023

Dear Friends and Colleagues: It has been entirely too long since the ICGI has been able to join in fellowship to discuss new research findings and reconnect with friends, collaborators, and colleagues. I am very excited to announce that we will hold the ICGI workshop at PAG 2023 on January 15, 2023 in San Diego, CA, USA! We have an excellent slate of speakers lined up to share their research findings. The specific location of the workshop at the Town and Country hotel in San Diego will be provided to you at a later date; however the workshop will be held from 4:00 - 6:10p PST on January 15, 2023. In addition, we are planning a networking/social event following the workshop at a venue TBD later. Once these details are finalized, we will communicate with you. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend! It is my understanding that the entire conference will ONLY be in-person. 2022 ICGI Research Conference Update

Dear Friends: On behalf of the ICGI steering committee, I am writing to update you on the status of our biennial research conference. Originally, our ICGI International Research Conference was scheduled for fall 2020 in Rehovot, Israel with Professor Yehoshua (Shuki) Saranga graciously agreeing to lead the local organizing committee. In January 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic began, and we were forced to postpone the conference to a later date. Since that time, the steering committee and Prof. Saranga's team has been in continual contact to discuss how to best navigate the ongoing situation. During 2021, at the beginning of the Delta variant surge and prior to the emergence of the Omicron variant, we decided to tentatively re-schedule the conference for May/June 2022. Very recently, although the pandemic is easing in most parts of the world, we determined that all of the direct (health and safety) and indirect (travel restrictions) impacts of the current situation prohibit ICGI from holding the conference in 2022. As such, this is our plan moving forward. 1. We will tentatively plan to hold the ICGI research conference in 2024. Prof. Saranga and his team will be given the opportunity to host the conference in 2024. The steering committee, in consultation with Prof. Saranga, will make a decision about Israel hosting in 2024 by the end of 2022. 2. 3. In the absence of our biennial research conference, the steering committee is tentatively planning to expand our annual ICGI workshop at PAG in January 2023. The tentative plan is to hold an ICGI business meeting and social/networking event in addition to the traditional scientific program. Please forward this information to any of your colleagues who might be interested to know about these updates. On behalf of the steering committee, I want to thank you for your patience during these trying times. We are in unchartered water and learning how to navigate without any prior experience doing so.
