Hello RosEXEC, When the white paper was drafted it was meant to be a living document, with meaningful improvements and corrections through time. It would seem like Anja and Kevin have come up with a way to do that. I think it is a good idea to keep the WP up to date. It is after all a community document and a community based method of keeping it alive is very much needed and appreciated.
All the best,

This is a memo for US RosExec.
Kevin and I will convert the 2006 white paper to a wiki format and demo it at PAG. The plan is to put it up at a free wiki host to start with, and then when Dorrie has time, she can move it to her servers. Kevin confirmed that US RosExec agreed to act as arbiters if any content disputes come up.
The plan is to offer a computer demo and show people how to access the document, download it, and edit it. We would also like to ask the US and international roundtables at PAG for feedback on it.
Here's the abstract we've submitted:

White papers have been used to communicate consolidated community resources, needs, and direction. The current rate of research advances and resource development requires continual updates to this durable document. The modern white paper avails itself well to the wiki format and allows continuous incremental changes to reflect the focus of the community in real-time. The US Rosaceae Community White Paper was last edited in 2006. Subsequently the resources generated and stakeholder needs have dramatically increased but are not reflected in the contemporary document. To solve this problem, the white paper has been converted into a living MediaWiki format, which will enable researchers and other members of the community to revisit and revise sections as needed. Content will be refereed by the elected body of the US Rosaceae Genomics, Genetics and Breeding Executive Committee. Exploitation of the Wiki format will make the most current updates and resources available to researchers, policymakers, and the crop communities they serve.
This demonstration will show participants how to view, download and edit the document. The URL for this document is http://www.rosaceaewhitepaper.com
