Subject: RosCAP proposal
Dear fellow volunteers (Gennaro, Sue, Amy) and potential volunteers (the rest of you),
During a quick CAP workshop teleconference a week ago, Chris and I were charged with getting the ball rolling on what we require to get a RosCAP proposal submitted in the next round. Attached in the following email are some of our thoughts and suggestions on these matters. Although I'll send these attachments immediately after this email, these files may take a little longer to come through as the rosexec mailing list can get stuck with files >100KB.
First is a Strategic Planning document outlining what needs to get done.
Second is a Proposal Framework document together with a diagram of the 4-year CAP term.
Amy, Sue, and Gennaro have already volunteered to join Chris and I in what I am calling the RosCAP Proposal Guidance Committee. If there are any others of you who would like to join, you're welcome. The tasks of this temporary committee are described in the Strategic Planning file. Several major final decisions will need to be made by this committee, and soon.
There will need to be numerous subcommittees set up shortly, depending on the specifics of the final proposal framework. These subcommittees will each need to iron out various details. Some of the RosCAP components are inevitable, so we may as well start thinking about which ones we each would each like to be involved with, and what other expertise we should recruit to help out - also consider beyond the usual Rosaceae GGB community.
Chris and I have more notes and diagrams on much of this (sorry Chris, I didn't include the diagram on Team Project Workflow here - I didn't have time tonight to adjust it with my additional comments), but in any case, many of the specific details can be determined within the appropriate subcommittees.
If you'd like to be on the proposal guidance committee, let Chris and I know ASAP, and we'll create a focused mailing list. By the end of this week, please let us know what you agree on and what you don't in the attached documents. We'll circulate comments among proposal guidance committee members, and continue discussions. The aim is to have subcommittees set up by the end of the month, and the Team Project Guidance Committee set up even earlier so that the call can be put out to the community for team project proposals by the end of month.
Hope you've all had a great summer!

The first sets of dates were not only impossible for many, they also
came from the wrong calendar year. Let's try again.
Since a candidate date approach is not looking promising, can you please
let me know when you are NOT available during the week of August 13th
AND the week of October 15th?
Thank you,
Kevin

Dear RosEXEC Members,
We need to schedule two RosEXEC conference calls. I propose two
tentative dates. Please let me know if either is not acceptable.
The first is for Monday, August 19th at 4 pm EST, and the second would
be Tuesday, October 15, 2007 at 4 pm EST.
Please respond soon as the first is in two weeks. I would like to meet
before classes etc begin.
Kevin
